Title
Resolution to Extend the Existing Moratorium on Pawn Shops, Secondhand Dealers, Junk Shops and Precious Metal & Gem Dealers for an Additional Three (3) Months.
 
Body
WHEREAS, Resolution No. R-2007-0056 was adopted by the Common Council of the City of West Allis on February 6, 2006, imposing a Moratorium on Pawn Shops, Secondhand Dealers, Junk Shops and Precious Metal & Gem Dealers as defined in Section 9.15 of the Revised Municipal Code; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Department is preparing an ordinance to amend the terms, conditions and restrictions under which such uses are to be granted; and,
 
WHEREAS, it is in the City's interest to put all current and future applications for new occupancy permits for Pawn Shops, Secondhand Dealers, Junk Shops and Precious Metal & Gem Dealers on hold until the proposed pending ordinance is acted upon.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the existing Moratorium on Pawn Shops, Secondhand Dealers, Junk Shops and Precious Metal & Gem Dealers be extended for an additional three (3) months as set forth in Resolution No. R-2007-0056.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Moratorium will terminate upon expiration of said three (3) month extension or the pending ordinances are enacted, whichever is sooner.
