Resolution to reestablish a West Allis Christmas Funding, Planning, and Programming Subcommittee of the City of West Allis Community Celebrations Committee.

Body
WHEREAS, Christmas is annually celebrated in the City of West Allis; and,

WHEREAS, the City previously had a Christmas Planning and Programming Committee that was established in 1996 and dissolved in 2002; and,

WHEREAS, the duties of the Christmas Planning and Programming Committee were assumed by the City Community Celebrations Committee; and,

WHEREAS, in conjunction with the City's Community Celebrations Committee, the West Allis Charities organized and carried out the City's Annual Christmas Parade; and,

WHEREAS, the West Allis Charities decided not to run the West Allis Charities parade after 2009; and,

WHEREAS, a local group of interested citizens have come together to replace the West Allis Charities to secure funding, organize, and carry out the City's Annual Christmas parade; and,

WHEREAS, this local group of interested citizens has asked the City of West Allis to be the official sponsor of the City's Annual Christmas Parade; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City and the community to have this annual holiday celebration under the overall direction and guidance of the City's Community Celebrations Committee.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the West Allis Christmas Funding, Planning, and Programming Subcommittee of the West Allis Community Celebrations Committee be and is hereby established for the purpose of annually funding, planning, and implementing a Christmas parade and coordinating its activities with and under the overall direction and guidance of the City's Community Celebrations Committee.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the Committee, as necessary, shall be appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Common Council, and shall include the following:
