Resolution approving an increase in the solid waste fund user charge.
Body
WHEREAS, Section 15.03 authorizes the Common Council to revise the solid waste user charges necessary to insure that the system generates adequate revenues to pay the cost of operation and maintenance; and,
WHEREAS, the 2009 budget, approved by the Common Council on November 18, 2008, requires an increase in the solid waste user charge to pay the cost of operation and maintenance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that an increase of 6 dollars and 83 cents in the quarterly solid waste user charge from $8.70 per residential unit to $15.53 per residential unit, an increase of 78.5% over 2008 be and is hereby approved, said increase to be effective January 1, 2009.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Finance Manager be and is hereby directed to notify each user of the Solid Waste Collection of the aforesaid rate increase as provided in Section 1.07(4)(f) of the Revised Municipal Code.
