Resolution authorizing the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to enter into an agreement with Ring & Duchateau for engineering services related to replacing the chiller units at City Hall and the Police Station in the amount of $18,500.

Whereas, the chiller at City Hall failed in late fall requiring the temporary use of a portable chiller for one month at a cost of about $25,000; and,
Whereas, the chiller at the Police Station is a duel type unit with one side inoperable and cannot be repaired; and,
Whereas, Ring & Duchateau comes highly recommended and city staff has met with and reviewed the scope of services with them; and,
Whereas, time is of the essence because of the long lead time in ordering and delivery of commercial type chillers; and,
Whereas, the Common Council deems it to be in the best interests of the City of West Allis to accept the engineering services agreement with Ring & Duchateau in order to prevent the emergency condition at City Hall when that chiller failed and a possible similar condition at the Police Station if that chiller has a complete breakdown.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis that up to $18,500 is hereby approved to be funded thought the appropriate City account.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of Public Works/City Engineer be and is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement for engineering services with Ring & Duchateau.
