Resolution to Amend the 2019 Schedule of Fees for the City of West Allis Relating to Oversize Load Permits.
Body
WHEREAS, The City of West Allis is home to many specialized transportation employers that utilize any one of the 20 Oversize or Overweight routes available through the City on any given day, and
WHEREAS, The Engineering Department verifies all of the required bridge clearances, lane widths, and lane restrictions prior to issuing the Oversize Load permit in order to protect the residents and visitors and to allow traffic to flow in the least disruptive way possible. In addition, up to 4 City of West Allis Police patrol vehicles escort these trucks through the city to ensure that everyone arrives safely at their destination, and
WHEREAS, The City of West Allis currently issues an average of 335 Oversize Load permits each year and charges an existing fee of $85.00 per permit totaling $28,475 in revenue per year, and
WHEREAS, The estimated cost to the City of West Allis Engineering and Police Departments to process and implement a typical permit is approximately $170.00 which results in $28,475 in lost revenue each year, and
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis 2017-21 Strategic Plan includes Strategic Goal #4: Economic Vitality and Sustainability, which states that “The City of West Allis will protect the organization’s fiscal wellbeing through long term planning and fiscal analysis”, and
WHEREAS, the Administration and Finance Committee has reviewed the fee schedule revision and recommends the adoption of a $170.00 fee per Oversize Load permit, and
WHEREAS, the amendment shall be reflected on Page 6 of the City of West Allis Schedule of Fees as shown on the attached Exhibit “A”, and
NOW THEREFORE, the Common Council of the City of West Allis does hereby amend the 2019 Schedule of Fees as shown on the attached Exhibit “A”.
