Resolution To Approve An Exterior Property Maintenance Program In The Second Aldermanic District And To Extend The Program Time In The First Aldermanic District.

WHEREAS, properties that are in violation of Section 13.28, the Property Maintenance Code, constitute a serious and growing problem injurious to the public health, safety, morals, welfare and property values of the residents of the City of West Allis; and,

WHEREAS, to the extent feasible, such properties should be conserved and rehabilitated through voluntary action and the regulatory process; and,

WHEREAS, an Exterior Property Maintenance Program will work to eliminate and prevent the development or spread of blight and deterioration in the community; and,

WHEREAS, an Exterior Property Maintenance Program in the First Aldermanic District was approved on December 19, 2000, by Resolution 26563, and has been successful in eliminating and preventing the spread of blight in the First Aldermanic District; and,

WHEREAS, the Program would similarly benefit the Second Aldermanic District by eliminating the spread of blight and deterioration,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of West Allis, that the Exterior Property Maintenance Program ("Program") is hereby approved in the Second Aldermanic District and reauthorized to continue in the First Aldermanic District.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Program in the Second Aldermanic District will be substantially in accordance with the Exterior Property Maintenance Program, a copy of which is attached hereto, be and is hereby approved.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Program in the Second Aldermanic District will not be initiated until the First District Program is substantially completed.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Program shall terminate on December 31, 2005, unless re-authorized by resolution of the Common Council. The Common Council may also terminate the Program, by resolut...
