Title
Resolution authorizing and directing the City Engineer to enter into three State/Municipal Agreements for a Highway Improvement Project with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the construction cost associated with resurfacing of:

S. 68 Street from W. Lincoln Avenue to the South Corporate Limits;
S. 76 Street from W. Cleveland Avenue to W. Oklahoma Avenue; and
W. National Avenue from the Union Pacific Railroad to S. 70 Street.

Body
WHEREAS, S. 68 Street from W. Lincoln Avenue to the South Corporate Limits; S. 76 Street from W. Cleveland Avenue to W. Oklahoma Avenue; and W. National Avenue from the Union Pacific Railroad to S. 70 Street are in very poor condition with the pavement experiencing extensive cracking and heaving along with the concrete or asphalt pavement deteriorating at the joints; and

WHEREAS, the Engineering Department applied for and the WisDOT has notified the City that this project has been selected for inclusion in the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 Federal Highway Administration Surface Transportation Program-Milwaukee Urbanized Area (ARRA FHWA STP-MUA); and,

WHEREAS, the State/Municipal Agreements include the following major items; roadway resurfacing, construction engineering and sidewalks; and,

WHEREAS, costs related to new or relay of private and public underground utilities will be determined at a later date and are not eligible for funding under WisDOT rules and regulations, but are a part of the overall project.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the City Engineer be and is hereby authorized and directed to enter into agreements with the WisDOT for these three Projects.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the total combined eligible estimated project costs are estimated at $1,330,860, which is entirely funded as the Federal/State share with no remaining local share (100%-0%). It is understood though that West Allis will pay to the Sta...
