Resolution approving Policies and Procedures for the implementation of a Neighborhood Association program in the City of West Allis.
Body
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis, along with staff and citizens, recognize the importance of developing and maintaining healthy neighborhoods throughout the community ;
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis values citizen involvement and wishes to reach out to all segments of the community by supporting the formation of effective Neighborhood Associations;
WHEREAS, a Neighborhood Association is a group of individuals who identify with a common area and share common goals and concerns, and are organized as a member-based group open to everybody within the neighborhood;
WHEREAS, Neighborhood Associations can help identify challenges and concerns, support change and improvements, resolve conflicts and provide resources to make neighborhoods a better place;
WHEREAS, the West Allis Neighborhood Associations Policies and Procedures manual provides guidance on the requirements, benefits, formation, recognition and maintenance of Neighborhood Associations in West Allis and,
WHEREAS, the proposed West Allis Neighborhood Associations Policies and Procedures Manual and attached example documents are hereby attached as Exhibit 1.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the Policies and Procedures Manual for the West Allis Neighborhood Associations Program be hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor, Common Council and staff of the City of West Allis pledge their support and cooperation in addressing the needs of citizens of West Allis through Neighborhood Associations and the community in general.
