Ordinance to amend Section 12.15 of the Revised Municipal Code regarding requiring two (2) appointed alternate Board of Appeals members.

The Common Council of the City of West Allis do ordain as follows:
 
Part I.  Section 12.15(1) of the Revised Municipal Code is amended to read as follows:
 
12.15      BOARD OF APPEALS.
      *  *  *
(1)      How Constituted.  The Board of Appeals shall consist of five (5) members appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation of the Common Council, for staggered terms of three (3) years.  The members of the Board shall serve without compensation and shall be removable by the Mayor for cause upon written charges and after public hearing.  The terms of not more than two (2) members shall expire in any one calendar year.  The Mayor shall designate one (1) of the members chairman.  The Mayor shall appoint, for staggered terms of three (3) years, two alternate members of such Board, in addition to the five (5) members above provided for who shall act in accordance with sec. 62.23(7)(e) of the Wisconsin Statutes.  The above provisions, with regard to removal, shall apply to such alternates.
 
Part II.  All ordinances or parts of ordinances contravening the provision of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
 
Part III.  This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.
