Resolution Requesting Emergency Funding for Engineering Consulting Services and Other Miscellaneous Services for the Inspection of the Outside Panels on City Hall in the Amount of $30,000.
Body
WHEREAS, it has been found that there may be problem with the integrity at the connection points of the outside granite panels to City Hall; and,
WHEREAS, Section 2.682, Emergency Purchase, of the City of West Allis Revised Municipal Code, empowers the Mayor to declare an emergency and to authorize any Department Head to purchase equipment, supplies or other services that are necessary because of that emergency; and,
WHEREAS, after consulting with the Director of Public Works/City Engineer, the Mayor approved the emergency hiring of a consulting engineer to inspect all of the outside panels and any other related work to protect the safety of our employees and visitors to City Hall; and,
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works/Engineering immediately thereafter hired a consulting engineer at an initial cost of $17, 805; and,
WHEREAS, the consulting engineer will be completing the inspection work by November 25, 2015 and will be providing the Director of Public Works/City Engineer with a verbal report recommending any corrective action to take until more permanent repairs can be made; and,
WHEREAS, a final written report will be submitted to the Director of Public Works/City Engineer and forwarded to the Board of Public Works and Common Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Common Council of the City West Allis confirms and authorizes the expenditure of funds for consulting services and other miscellaneous services and work.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the Director of Public Works/City Engineer is directed and authorized to use the appropriate budget account or accounts to pay for these services and related work.
