Resolution of Commendation for Michael F. Pertmer.
Body
WHEREAS, Michael F. Pertmer, Director of Public Works, will retire on October 9, 2009 after more than 36 years of public service, having served as the Director of Public Works for the City of West Allis since May of 1992; and,
WHEREAS, Mike received his Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management from UW-Stevens Point in 1971 and his Masters of Public Administration from UW-Oshkosh in 1989; and,
WHEREAS, during his career Mike has served the citizens of West Allis in many different capacities including Laborer I, Laborer II, Record Clerk I, Senior Sanitation Supervisor, Street and Sanitation Superintendent, Forestry and Grounds Superintendent, Acting Assistant Director of Public Works-Yard Operations, Assistant Director of Public Works and finally as Director of Public Works; and,
WHEREAS, Mike has been a member of the American Public Works Association since 1980 and a member of the American Water Works Association since 1993; and,
WHEREAS, in 2003 Mike received the Samuel A. Greeley Local Government Service Award which gives formal recognition to those who have honorably and efficiently served a single local public agency in an official capacity continuously for 30 or more years and who have been members in good standing of the American Public Works Association for 15 or more years; and,
WHEREAS, in 2006 Mike served as President of the American Public Works Association-Wisconsin Chapter; and,
WHEREAS, Mike is deserving of special commendation for his many contributions to his profession and to making West Allis a better place to live and work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that Michael F. Pertmer, Director of Public Works, be and is hereby specially commended for his dedication and service to the citizens of West Allis and congratulates him for a job well done.
