Resolution relative to requesting the State of Wisconsin to increase the amount of funding in the State 2005-07 Biennium Budget for State Library System Aid.

 

Body

WHEREAS, current state law requires the Superintendent of Public Instruction to request 13% funding for State Library System Aid; and,

 

WHEREAS, current state funding for State Library System Aid is approximately 7.8%; and,

 

WHEREAS, in his proposed 2005-07 Budget proposal to the State Legislature, Governor Doyle had requested an 8% funding level for State Library System Aid; and,

 

WHEREAS, additional funds for State Library System Aid are necessary to support library systems throughout the State; and,

 

WHEREAS, the MCFLS is in need of additional State Library System Aid to fund its reciprocal borrowing and other needs of its members.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the State of Wisconsin Legislature is strongly urged to increase the amount of funding in the State 2005-07 Biennium Budget for State Library System Aid.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution shall be provided to Governor Doyle, all members of the State Joint Finance Committee, all area legislators, the State Department of Pubic Instruction, and the MCFLS.
