Resolution of Commendation for Steven J. Hook.
Body
WHEREAS, Steve Hook, Fire Chief, retired from office on February 28, 2013, after more than 30 years of public service, having served as the Fire Chief for the City of West Allis since 1998; and,
WHEREAS, Steve received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1979 from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Bachelor of Science in Fire & Safety Engineering Technology in 1992 from the University of Cincinnati; and,
WHEREAS, during his career, Steve has served the citizens of West Allis in many different capacities including Fire Fighter, Paramedic, Equipment Operator, Fire Lieutenant, Safety/Information Officer, Fire Captain, and finally as Fire Chief; and,
WHEREAS, Steve led the West Allis Fire Department to accreditation by the Commission on Fire Accreditation, International in 2003, and reaccreditation in 2008; he achieved Chief Fire Officer Designation in 2005, and recertification in 2008 and 2011; and,
WHEREAS, Steve currently serves as a peer reviewer for the Commission on Public Safety Excellence; he is a member of the Institute of Fire Engineers, served as president of the Milwaukee County Association of Fire Chiefs, and he is a member of the Wisconsin Fire Chiefs' Education Association's Curriculum Committee; and,
WHEREAS, Steve possesses an outstanding record of Professional Certifications in Firefighting, EMT, and Chief Fire Officer applications, and his Professional experience includes serving as an Emergency Medical Services Instructor and Fire Science Instructor at Milwaukee Area Technical College; and,
WHEREAS, Steve is a member of Milwaukee Area Technical College's Fire and EMS Advisory Committee and serves as the Milwaukee County EMS Council's Operations Committee Chairman; he also serves as Vice Chair of the State of Wisconsin Engineering Board and he's the West Allis Rotary Club's Board of Directors' International Services Chairman; and,
