Resolution to Extend the Exterior Property Maintenance Inspection Program in the First and Second Aldermanic Districts.

WHEREAS, an Exterior Property Maintenance Inspection Program in the First Aldermanic District was approved on December 19, 2000, by Resolution 26563, and has been successful in eliminating and preventing the spread of blight in the First Aldermanic District; and,
WHEREAS, the Exterior Property Maintenance Program was extended into the Second Aldermanic District on May 6, 2003, by Resolution Number R-2003-0155 and has been successful in eliminating and preventing blight in the Second Aldermanic District; and,
WHEREAS the Exterior Property Maintenance Inspection Program continues to achieve the goal to reduce violations of Section 13.28 of the Revised Municipal Code which constitute serious and growing problems injurious to public health, safety, morals, welfare, and property values of the residents of the City of West Allis; and,
WHEREAS, to the extent feasible, such properties should be conserved and rehabilitated through voluntary action and regulatory process by which the Program does allow and promote through proactive inspections; and,
WHEREAS, the Exterior Property Maintenance Inspection Program was to terminate on December 31, 2005 unless re-authorized by resolution of the Common Council,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis, that the Exterior Property Maintenance Inspection is hereby reauthorized to continue in the First and Second Aldermanic Districts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Program shall terminate on December 31, 2007, unless reauthorized by resolution of the Common Council. The Common Council may also terminate the Program, by resolution, prior to the stated termination date.
