Resolution authorizing the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to temporarily close 109th, 110th, 111th, 111pl, and 112th at Theo Trecker Way in 2014.
Body
WHEREAS, unlawful vehicle cruising has continued to be a serious issue in this area; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Engineering Division over the years has investigated a number permanent and temporary options for closing these streets to through traffic at Theo Trecker Way in order to discourage cruising; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Engineering Division, along with the District aldermen, agreed to try a less costly, temporary closing for 2013 to determine its effectiveness prior to long term, more costly closing options; and,
 
WHEREAS, the closing of 109th Street was deemed to be effective in 2013 and the Engineering Division, along with the District aldermen, wish to continue and extend the trial period into 2014; and,
 
WHEREAS, the intent is to close 109th Street as soon as possible and allowing for, after consulting with the District aldermen, the possibility of closing 110th, 111th, 111pl and 112th sometime in 2014.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Common Council of the City West Allis authorizes the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to close these subject streets and report back to the Common Council at the appropriate time the impact of the closings.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the Director of Public Works/City Engineer is directed and authorized to use the appropriate budget account or accounts to pay for the work up to $4,000.
