Title
Resolution approving an amendment to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program for the creation of a Lead Poisoning Prevention Program.
Body
WHEREAS, the Lead Poisoning Prevention Program is conducted through the City of West Allis Health Department and is an effort to address the presence of lead containing substances within the older housing stock of the community and help prevent lead poisoning in children; and
 
WHEREAS, the project activity is eligible for Community Development Block Grant funds as it fulfills Housing and Urban Development 's (HUD) national objective to assist low-to moderate-income households;
WHEREAS, said project funds will be used for the purchase of an XRF machine to perform lead testing services; and
 
WHEREAS,  Director of Development has recommended approval of this project
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that it hereby approves an amendment to the Community Development Block Grant Program, Annual Action Plan for FY 2010, creating the Lead Poisoning Prevention Program with a budget not to exceed $17,000.  
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the funding for the Lead Poisoning Prevention Program be made available through a reduction to the following program:
$17,000 from the FY 2010 Contingency Fund
