Title
Resolution relative to amending City of West Allis Policies & Procedures Manual Policy No. 404, with the amended title, “Recruitment and Hiring Process for Executive/Managerial/Deputy-Assistant Service Positions”, and repealing City of West Allis Policies and Procedures Manual No. 1455, Managerial Service (Division Head) Conditions of Employment.

WHEREAS, Policy No. 404, Recruitment, Selection, Appointment and Confirmation for City Officials and Executive/Managerial/Deputy Service Positions, and Policy No. 1455, Managerial Service (Division Head) Conditions of Employment, were originally included in the City of West Allis Policies & Procedures Manual in December 2005 and July 1999, respectively; and
WHEREAS, in order to ensure continued accountability, leadership, and direction in the executive positions of the City; provide opportunity for flexibility in recruiting internal and external candidates outside of the previous civil service process; allow input and collaboration for succession planning with the managerial/deputy-assistant position appointments, it is necessary to amend said policy at this time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that Policy No. 404, Recruitment and Hiring Process for Executive/Managerial/Deputy-Assistant Service Positions, is approved as presented in the attached restatement, including the retitling of the procedure, and Policy No. 1455, Managerial Service (Division Head) Conditions of Employment is repealed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Administrator is authorized and directed to include the amended Policy No. 404 in the City of West Allis Policies & Procedures Manual and distribute said policy to all departments, divisions, and offices, and remove Policy No. 1455 from the City of West Allis Policies & Procedures Manual.
