An Ordinance to Create Section 13.35(12) of the West Allis Revised Municipal Code Relating to Electrical Requirements for Swimming Pools, submitted February 4, 2003.  (Sponsored by Paul M. Murphy).

The Common Council of the City of West Allis do ordain as follows:

 

PART I.                     Section 13.35(12) of the Revised Municipal Code is hereby created to read:

 

13.35                     SWIMMING AND WADING POOLS.

(12)                     Electrical Regulations.

 

(a)                     Permanent/In Ground Pools.  The regulations of Chapter 14 apply.

 

(b)                     Temporary/Above Ground Pools.

 

(1)                     No electrical permit shall be required for a temporary or above ground pools filter system and no second or convenience outlet shall be required.  An electrical permit is required for installation of a heating system for the pool if such system utilizes electric power.

 

(2)                     A pool filter system may be connected to an exterior GFCI outlet on a house, garage, or other structure by means of a UL listed outdoor extension cord.

                                                                                    

PART II.                     All ordinances or parts of ordinances contravening the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

 

PART III.                     This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.
