Resolution to amend City of West Allis Policies & Procedures Manual Policy No. 1110, Creating, Maintaining, and Administering Pay Ranges, including amending the title to “Compensation and Pay Administration”.

WHEREAS, when the Civil Service Regulations were amended, the approval for promotions was not explicitly outlined in policy revisions, and the recruitment and retention of employees has become exceedingly difficult in part due to the lowest unemployment rate since 1969; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council approved changes to the recruiting and hiring processes to assist in dealing with the current challenges; and
WHEREAS, flexibility for adjustments to compensation relating to reclassifications, equity and retention will assist City Departments in hiring and maintaining a high quality workforce and continuity of service delivery for citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that Policy No. 1110, Creating, Maintaining, and Administering Pay Ranges, is amended as attached and retitled to “Compensation and Pay Administration”.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Administrator is authorized and directed to take the actions necessary to effectuate the changes in the City of West Allis Policies & Procedures Manual and distribute said policy to all departments, divisions, and offices.
