Title

Resolution relative to approving an interagency agreement with the City of Cudahy for the purpose of fulfilling contract objectives for the 2009 Wisconsin Division of Public Health Tobacco Prevention and Control Program.

Body

WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Division of Public Health Tobacco Prevention and Control Program has changed tobacco grant funding policies for 2009 requiring that local health departments form regional consortia to coordinate tobacco control and prevention activities.

 

WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Division of Public Health Tobacco Prevention and Control Program has designated the Cudahy Health Department as the lead organization and fiscal agent for a consortium of ten health departments in southern and western Milwaukee County.

 

WHEREAS, the West Allis Health Department, as a consortium member, will be responsible for participating in the development of a five year community tobacco control multi-jurisdictional action plan, and advocating for statewide smoke-free policy in Wisconsin for which the West Allis Health Department will receive payment in the amount of $7,000.

 

WHEREAS, the City of Cudahy has requested that consortium members sign an interagency agreement that specifies the responsibilities of all parties.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the attached interagency agreement between the City of West Allis and the City of Cudahy be and is hereby approved.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the Health Commissioner is authorized and directed to execute said agreement on behalf of the City.
