Resolution Relative to Ordering a Special Election for Aldermanic District 5.
Body
WHEREAS, a vacancy exists in the office of Alderperson, District 5 due to the resignation of Alderperson James W. Sengstock, effective November 30, 2013, whose term would have expired on the third Monday in April, 2016; and
 
WHEREAS, the seat shall remain vacant until a successor is elected and qualified at a special election to serve the residue of the unexpired term; and
 
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 8.50 of the Wisconsin Statutes, the special election for city office shall be ordered by the City of West Allis Common Council; and
 
WHEREAS, that a special election and special primary shall be noticed, held, conducted, canvassed and returned in accordance with the provisions of Wisconsin Statutes; and
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that a special election is to be held in Aldermanic District 5 on the 1st day of April 2014, to fill the vacancy of the position of Alderperson, District 5 caused by the resignation of James W. Sengstock, and, if necessary, a special primary election will be held on the 18th day of February 2014; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the earliest date for circulation of nomination papers shall be December 4, 2013, and the deadline for filing nomination papers, the Campaign Registration Statement, the Declaration of Candidacy, and Statement of Economic Interests shall be 5:00 p.m. on January 7, 2014.
