Resolution of support for Avalon Rail to be considered by Talgo, Inc. for new rail assembly and maintenance facilities.
Body
WHEREAS, Avalon Rail has established a successful 60,000 sq. ft. West Allis facility located at 6600 West Washington Street for the construction, design, and maintenance for commuter and passenger trains; and,
WHEREAS, Talgo, Inc., a manufacture of high speed passenger trains, announced that the company is searing for a assembly and maintenance facility in Wisconsin; and,
WHEREAS, Avalon Rail's dedicated professional team and skilled workforce would be an asset to Talgo, Inc. expansion plan; and,
WHEREAS, the facility operated by Avalon Rail has direct rail service to the facility and necessary for modern manufacturing capacities; and,
WHEREAS, Avalon Rail is located in a City with a strong tradition of heavy manufacturing providing the necessary infrastructure, relationships with technical schools and engineering campuses, and skilled workforce.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST ALLIS supports Avalon Rail's effort to be considered by Talgo, Inc. for a new rail assembly and maintenance facilities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST ALLIS directs staff to provide the necessary technical support to facilitate the attraction of Talgo, Inc. to the City of West Allis.
