Resolution relative to requesting that Milwaukee County agree to implementing the County-wide Library Reciprocal Borrowing Collection/Redistribution Method for the Milwaukee County Federated Library System's County-wide Reciprocal Borrowing System for calendar years 2006, 2007, and 2008.
Body
WHEREAS, the Milwaukee County Federated Library System (MCFLS) has existed for over 30 years as a federation of municipally-owned and operated local public libraries; and,
WHEREAS, under the MCFLS, county-wide citizens have been able to borrow items at any municipal library within the county; and,
WHEREAS, that system of county-wide interlibrary borrowing, known as reciprocal borrowing, has been extremely successful and is an important county-wide service to be maintained; and,
WHEREAS, the county-wide reciprocal borrowing service is in need of a county-wide Library Reciprocal Borrowing Collection/Redistribution Method to collect and redistribute the county-wide financial resources necessary to continue that county-wide system; and,
WHEREAS, Milwaukee County, as a county-wide intergovernmental local entity, is best suited and responsible to provide the county-wide library reciprocal borrowing collection/redistribution method necessary for the MCFLS county-wide reciprocal borrowing system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that Milwaukee County is respectfully requested to agree to implement the county-wide Library Reciprocal Borrowing Collection/Redistribution Method for the MCFLS county-wide reciprocal borrowing system for the years 2006, 2007, and 2008.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution shall be provided to Milwaukee County, all municipalities throughout Milwaukee County, as well as to the MCFLS.
