Resolution approving an increase in the sanitary sewer user charge - MMSD portion.

WHEREAS, Section 1.07(4)(e) authorizes the Common Council to revise sanitary sewer user charges, as necessary, to insure that the system generates adequate revenues to pay the cost of operation and maintenance, including replacement of the Sanitary Sewer Collection System; and,
WHEREAS, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) charges the City of West Allis for the use of its sanitary sewer collection system and treatment facilities; and,
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis passes on these charges from MMSD, including the annual Household Hazardous Waste Charge, directly to all users of the sanitary sewer collection system; and
WHEREAS, MMSD has increased its charges to the City of West Allis for 2014.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the 2014 MMSD portion of the sanitary sewer user charge be and is hereby increased to $28.48 per quarter from $27.87 for single-family residential properties; $48.01 per quarter from $47.18 for duplexes; and $1.24 per hundred cubic feet (ccf) of water used, up from $1.22 per ccf in 2013 for commercial properties. The 2014 commercial connection fee per quarter has increased to $8.95 from $8.56 in 2013. In accordance with the changes in MMSD rates; said rate changes to be effective January 1, 2014.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Finance Manager be and is hereby directed to notify each user of the Sanitary Sewer Collection System of the aforesaid rate increase as provided in Section 1.07(4)(f) of the Revised Municipal Code.
