Title

Resolution authorizing the appropriate city officials, including the City Administrative Officer, City Attorney and Director of Public Works/City Engineer, to enter into an architectural services agreement for the municipal court renovations at the police court center in an amount not to exceed $20,000 from the Land & Building fund.

 

Body

Whereas, 2009 ACT 402 now requires the municipal court be separate and distinct from the police department and that the court personnel be in separate areas from the police department personnel; and, 

 

Whereas, the City Attorney drafted a communication to the Common Council outlining the various modifications that needed to be done to comply with 2009 ACT 402, including, but not limited to, installing a separate window for municipal court transactions, creating new rooms, a new second opening to the court room, a movable witness and bailiff stand, replacement of the audio and recording system and carpeting, ADA compliance modifications and new office furnishings; and,

 

Whereas, with a preliminary estimate of $155,000 for construction, the next step is to obtain the services of an architect for final design along with plans and specifications.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis that up to $20,000 is hereby approved to be funded though the Land & Building Fund.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Administrative Officer, City Attorney and Director of Public Works/City Engineer be and is hereby authorized to enter into an architectural agreement for services related to the municipal court renovations.
