Resolution appointing the Director of Development to represent the City of West Allis on the Milwaukee Continuum of Care.

Body
WHEREAS, the mission of the Milwaukee Continuum of Care is to organize people and resources to end homelessness in Milwaukee County; and,

WHEREAS, the Milwaukee Continuum of Care is a coalition of more than 100 members open to organizations or individuals interested in services and advocacy for people experiencing homelessness. The Continuum meets monthly to work on issues and opportunities; and,

WHEREAS, the Continuum was established in 1998 as the entity responsible for coordinating the community's annual Supportive Housing Program application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; and,

WHEREAS, the Milwaukee Continuum of Care is recognized by local government, the State of Wisconsin, and the federal government as the group responsible for planning, organizing, and evaluating the continuum of services for homeless individuals and families; and,

WHEREAS, the Milwaukee Continuum of Care covers the City of Milwaukee, City of West Allis, City of Wauwatosa and the remainder of Milwaukee County; and,

WHEREAS, with over 100 members comprised of individuals and organizations, the Milwaukee Continuum of Care has strength in diversity and breadth of participation. Members include shelters, transitional housing, individual consumers, permanent supportive housing, advocacy organizations, higher education institutions, local government, the public school system, faith-based institutions domestic violence shelters, foundations, and private entities; and,

WHEREAS, the Milwaukee Continuum of Care Executive Board is the lead decision-making body responsible for planning for the use of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's HEARTH Act Continuum of Care resources and coordinating these funds with other relevant resources in the jurisdiction.
