Title
Resolution regarding the transfer of $5,000 from the City's Contingency Fund to the Police & Fire Commission 2012 Budget for expenses related to the recruitment and selection of a new Police Chief.
 
Body
WHEREAS, Chief Michael Jungbluth has announced his retirement from the Police Department effective December 21, 2012; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Police & Fire Commission needs to recruit and select a new Chief; and,
 
WHEREAS, to recruit and select a new Police Chief, the Police & Fire Commission has requested $10,000 to pay for this effort; and,
 
WHEREAS, the total Police & Fire Commission budget for 2012 is already overspent for this year due to unusually higher costs related to Police & Fire Department personnel turnover and replacement; and,
 
WHEREAS, without funds available in other 2012 Police & Fire Commission budgeted accounts, additional funds need to be transferred into the proper accounts for the new Chief's recruitment and selection expenses; and,
 
WHEREAS, a transfer from the City's Contingency Fund to the Police & Fire Commission budget for such expense is necessary.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that $5,000 is hereby approved for transfer from the City's Contingency Fund to the Police & Fire Commission budget for expenses related to the recruitment and replacement of the West Allis Police Chief.
