Resolution implementing strategies for managing the 2010 Budget for the remainder of the year.
Body
WHEREAS, the United States economy continues in a serious recession which has negatively affected the nation, state, and city; and,
WHEREAS, said recession has negatively affected the City of West Allis' 2010 Budget by creating an estimated $400,000 shortfall in revenue from reduced investment earnings for 2010; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary and fiscally prudent for the City to take certain steps to manage its 2010 Budget for the remainder of this calendar year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the following strategies be approved for implementation to manage the 2010 Budget for the remainder of the year:
· Critical review of all vacant positions.
· Unnecessary spending (hold off on expenditures, if possible).
· Intra-departmental account transfers for new/other purposes.
· Critical review of year-end carryovers.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the City Administrative Officer, Clerk/Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to implement these management strategies on behalf of the Common Council with approval of actions by the City's Administration & Finance Committee.
