Title
Resolution to amend the Policies and Procedures Section 2202, Building and Sign Division of the Department of Public Works, to include a procedure for the public to request the placement or replacement of a "No Parking Within 4 Feet of Drive" or "No Parking Between Driveways" sign, as approved by the City Engineer, for a fee of $150.

WHEREAS, there are several situations around the City of West Allis where the spacing between drive openings is not sufficient to accommodate legal parking for standard size vehicles; and,
 
WHEREAS, several property owners have complained about vehicles illegally parked and blocking their drive approach causing an unsafe condition; and,
 
WHEREAS, the City Engineer will, if deemed appropriate, direct the Department of Public Works to place a "No Parking Within 4 Feet of Drive" or "No Parking Between Driveways" sign; and,
 
WHEREAS, the amended policy will set the fee at $150 for the placement/replacement of each type of sign to serve as a reminder for motorists of the existing State Statute Section 346.55 restricting parking within four feet of a driveway.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis that the Policies and Procedures Section 2202, Building and Sign Division of the Department of Public Works, be amended to include a procedure for the public to request the placement or replacement of a "No Parking Within 4 Feet of Drive" or "No Parking Between Driveways" sign as approved by the City Engineer.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer will periodically review and update the fee based on actual costs.
