Title

Resolution Relative to Reconstructing Mountable Curb on the East Side of 85th Street from Greenfield Avenue to Washington Street.

Body

WHEREAS, Revised Municipal Code Sections 13.28(10)(i) and (j) prohibit parking on lawn areas except during the Wisconsin State Fair in the area bounded by the north City limits, South 92nd Street, South 70th Street and West National Avenue, which includes 85th Street between Greenfield Avenue and Washington Street; and

WHEREAS, 85th Street was constructed in Year 1926 with a mountable curb that has accommodated a tradition of lawn-area parking during the Wisconsin State Fair for approximately 90 years; and

WHEREAS, 85th Street is currently under reconstruction from Greenfield Avenue to Washington Street with plans for straight-faced curb; and

WHEREAS, residents on the east side of 85th Street have requested that the mountable curb that existed prior to the reconstruction project be replaced with mountable curb to afford continuation of the tradition of lawn-area parking during the Wisconsin State Fair; and

WHEREAS, the City Engineer has indicated that the incremental cost to reconstruct the east side of 85th Street from Greenfield Avenue to Washington Street with mountable curb rather than straight-faced curb is $1,220; and

WHEREAS, a mountable curb on the east side of 85th Street from Greenfield Avenue to Washington Street is appropriate to the context and function of the street and surrounding area,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works/City Engineer shall cause the east side of 85th Street from Greenfield Avenue to Washington Street to be reconstructed with a mountable curb for an incremental amount not to exceed $1,220 to be funded by a private source.
