Title

Resolution approving a list of properties to be demolished as recommended to the Common Council by the Demolition Recommendation Committee.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Building Inspections and Neighborhood Services (“BINS”) Department Director has obtained the proper court-ordered raze/repair orders for various properties around the City and has identified various other properties that are recommended for court-ordered raze/repair orders (the “Properties”), to eliminate blighting and unsafe environments that the Properties present; and,

 

WHEREAS, The Demolition Recommendation Committee, consisting of the Mayor, the President of the Common Council, the Chief of Police, the Director of BINS, the Director of Development and/or any of their designees, has met and created a list of Properties to be demolished, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof (Exhibit 1: Schedule of Recommended Properties for Demolition); and,

 

WHEREAS, the list was created with priority given to Properties with criminal activity, and/or life safety issues, and/or visible blight; and,

 

WHEREAS, the list is required to be submitted to the Common Council for approval; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Common Council and/or Community Development Authority control various funding sources that would be eligible to fund all demolition-related expenses for said Properties.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the list provided by the Demolition Recommendation Committee has been approved; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Building Inspections and Neighborhood Services may pursue further action on all Properties on the provided list to eliminate blight.
