Resolution to Authorize the City Administrator to Appoint an Interim Public Works Director and City Engineer.

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works/City Engineer, Michael G. Lewis, has announced his retirement effective January 2, 2018, and direction has been given to split his positions into two separate positions - Public Works Director and City Engineer; and
WHEREAS, a successful transition and appropriate staffing selection is imperative to ensure the continuity of efficient and effective service delivery by the Public Works and Engineering Departments to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the City Administrator is authorized to appoint an Interim Director of Public Works and an Interim City Engineer upon approval of this resolution. The interim appointments may last up to six months and may be extended by the City Administrator should circumstances require an extension.
