Title
Resolution establishing an Information Technology Steering Committee.
 
Body
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis is looking to improve efficiency, streamline processes, and control the cost of operations; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis recognizes that many of these efficiency and operational gains will be accomplished via automation and improvements in technology; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis believes that this process improvement is best accomplished via a comprehensive and centralized effort originating from the City's Information Technology/Communications Department; and
 
WHEREAS, the City acknowledges the size of scope of this undertaking and believes that the formation of an Information Technology Steering Committee will aid in the process of prioritizing and organizing this effort.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the City of West Allis Information Technology Steering Committee be and is hereby established for the purpose of guiding the City's process improvement efforts, as outlined:
 
1.  The Steering Committee shall be made up of the following members:
 
a.  The Director of Information Technology/Communications.
b.  All City Department Heads or a high-ranking designee.
c.  The Chair of the Committee shall be the City Administrator.
 
2.  The mandate of the Steering Committee shall be to:
 
a.  Establish organizational IT needs/projects.
b.  Prioritize established needs/projects.
c.  Create meaningful timelines for completion of projects.
d.  Via the Committee Chair, report to the Common Council on a monthly basis as to the status of established priorities and projects.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the necessary and appropriate funding will be provided to the IT/Communications Department in order to meet the goals and priorities as established by the Steering Committee, said funding to be recommended by the Committee and approved by the Common Council.
 
 
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the IT/Communications Director is hereby authorized and directed to implement this process improvement effort on behalf of the Common Council with approval of actions by the City's Administration & Finance Committee.
