Title

Resolution relative to authorizing the submittal of a $175,000 Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Municipal Flood Control Grant application and the subsequent appropriation of the necessary 30% local matching funds of up to $53,000 from the Storm Water Utility to acquire and demolish a property located at 11300 W. Cleveland Ave.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is offering a flood control initiative; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Wisconsin DNR is requesting applications to apply for funding for DNR's Municipal Flood Control Grant Program; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis wishes to promote flood control; and

 

WHEREAS, in this action, the Common Council of the City of West Allis declares its intent to complete the activities described in the application, if funds are awarded; and,

 

WHEREAS, grant funds from the Wisconsin DNR may not be greater than 70% of total project costs and up to $53,000 from the City's Storm Water Management Fund are available for the 30% local match; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis will allow employees from the Department of Natural Resources access to inspect grant project sites; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis will maintain records documenting all expenditures made during the Municipal Flood Control Grant project; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis will submit a final report to the DNR which describes all Municipal Flood Control Grant project activities, achievements and data collected, and documentation of the project costs; and,

 

WHEREAS, in this action the Common Council of the City of West Allis authorizes the submittal of an application for the Municipal Flood Control Grant Program.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the City will comply with state rules for the program and that local matching funds of up to $53,000 from the City's Storm Water Management Fund be appropriated as local matching funds to match assistance available from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources under the Municipal Flood Control Grant Program; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Development is hereby authorized to submit an application to the State of Wisconsin for financial aid for Municipal Flood Control protection purposes, sign documents, and take necessary action to undertake, direct, and complete an approved flood control project.
