Resolution authorizing staff to negotiate, on behalf of the City of West Allis, the possible acquisition of the property owned by J. Leonard Lovdahl (Laidlaw Transit), located at 7725-41 W. National Ave. and the acquisition of property owned by Advertoprint, Inc., located at 7939-43 and 8001 W. National Ave.

WHEREAS, the Community Development Authority ("Authority") of the City of West Allis has noted that the area located between S. 78 St. and S. 81 St. along W. National Ave., is the historic Pioneer Neighborhood District; and,
WHEREAS, the Authority determined that the property located at 7725-41 W. National Ave., owned by J. Leonard Lovdahl (Laidlaw Transit) is for sale and the property located at 7939-43 and 8001 W. National Ave., owned by Advertoprint, Inc. is up for Sheriff's auction; and,
WHEREAS, the Authority recognizes the properties provide an opportunity for a redevelopment project to revitalize the neighborhood and expand the City's tax base; and,
WHEREAS, the Authority has directed staff to develop a redevelopment plan for the area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that it hereby approves the acquisition of the Advertoprint property, determines that acquisition of the Advertoprint property is a necessity to the City's redevelopment plans and directs the Director of Development to take such actions as are reasonably required, under direction given by the Common Council, to attempt to acquire said properties.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Common Council will acquire the Advertoprint, Inc. property located at 7939-43 and 8001 W. National Ave. funded through the Land and Building Fund and Block Grant monies.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Development is authorized to negotiate with the owner of 7725-41 W. National Ave. to determine if acquisition by the City of West Allis is feasible.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the approval as set forth herein is conditioned upon the City of West Allis' full compliance with all applicable local, state and federal laws, ordinances, rules and regulations relating to the activities authorized herein.
