Resolution to consider funding $5,500 in barricades and signage for the Active Streets initiative

WHEREAS, the COVID-19 crisis has created a need to physically distance ourselves from one another; and,
WHEREAS, the City recognizes that physical activity is considered essential and important to maintain physical and mental health during this time of physical distancing; and,
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis values its residents’ need to recreate outdoors safely; and,
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis recognizes that reducing motor vehicle traffic is an added benefit that will make people feel safer riding bicycles in the street and provide space for people to walk, run, or roll in the street; and,
WHEREAS, the Active Streets program will allow people to utilize street space to maintain physical distancing requirements while exercising or traveling; and,
WHEREAS, the Department of Development is recommending the purchase of barricades and educational signage.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that it hereby approves funding $5,500 in barricades and signage for the Active Streets initiative.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the funding is hereby appropriated from the Community and Economic Development Fund, Account Number 354-6052-533-3102 or from private donations.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Development or his designee is authorized to implement the Program and execute funding agreements.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Attorney be and is hereby authorized to make such non-substantive changes, modifications, additions and deletions to and from the funding agreements, including any and all attachments, exhibits, addendums and amendments, as may be necessary and proper to correct inconsistencies, eliminate ambiguity and otherwise clarify and supplement said provisions to preserve and maintain the general intent thereof, and to prepare and deliver such other and further documents as may be reasonably necessary to complete the transactions contemplated therein.
