The Common Council of the City of West Allis do ordain as follows:

 

Part I.                      Section 14.54 of the Revised Municipal Code is hereby repealed and recreated to read as follows:

 

Chapter XIV Electrical Code

 

14.54                     LICENSE NON-RENEWAL                     

Non-renewal shall not relieve the license holder from completion of all permits that have been issued to that license holder and/or payment of outstanding fees and assessments.  All permits shall be completed within thirty (30) days of the expiration of a license unless otherwise agreed to, in writing, by the Electrical Inspector or the Electrical Review Board.

 

Part II.                      Section 14.58 of the Revised Municipal Code is hereby repealed and recreated to read as follows:

 

14.58                     ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS LICENSE.

(1)                     Defined.

The holder of an Electrical Contractors License is permitted to engage in the business of and to secure permits for the installation, alteration and repair to any electrical system or electrical wiring upon or within any building, structure or premise in the City of West Allis when supervised by an appointed supervising electrician.

 

(2)                     Qualifications of Appointed Supervising Electrician.

The appointed supervising electrician shall possess a valid State of Wisconsin Master Electrician Certificate or Restricted Master Electrician Certificate.  The supervising electrician shall supervise all work performed by the license holder and shall be available to the electrical inspector to discuss any matters involving electrical work permitted by the license holder.

 

(3)                     License Period.

(a.)                     An Electrical Contractor License shall cover the license period beginning

September 1, 2003, and ending August 31, 2005, and each two years thereafter.  New license applications processed in mid-license period shall pay the fee required for the entire period.  All licenses shall expire on August 31st of the second year of the license period.

(b.)                     A new license will be issued or a license renewed following submittal of a license application, required documentation and payment of fees.

(c.)                     Licenses may be renewed for the next license period until October 1st following the expiration of the license.  License applications received after October 1st shall be processed as a new license.

 

(4)                     License Fee. 

The fee for an Electrical Contractors License shall be as follows:

(a)                     New Licenses                      $ 150.00

(b)                     Renewal Licenses                     $ 100.00

 

 

Part III.                     Section 14.59(10) of the Revised Municipal Code is repealed and recreated to read:

 

14.59                     SHOP MAINTENANCE LICENSE.

(10)                     License Period and Fee.  The licensing period shall be as stated for an Electrical Contractor License in Section 14.58(3) and the fee shall be as follows: 

(a)                     New Licenses                      $ 150.00

(b)                     Renewal Licenses                     $ 100.00

 

Part IV.                     All ordinances or parts of ordinances contravening the provisions of the ordinance are hereby repealed.

 

Part V.  This ordinance shall be in force from and after its passage and publication and the schedule of fees become effective on September 1, 2003.
