An Ordinance to Amend Subsection 3.05(1)(a) of the Revised Municipal Code Relative to the Standing Committees in the Rules of Procedure for Common Council.

The Common Council of the City of West Allis do ordain as follows:

 

PART I.                     Subsection 3.05(1)(a) of the Revised Municipal Code of the City of West Allis is hereby amended to read:

 

3.05                     RULES OF PROCEDURE FOR COMMON COUNCIL.

 

(1)                     Standing Committees.

 

(a)                     Standing Committees of the Common Council, the number of Alderpersons assigned to each Committee and the areas of basic responsibility for such Committees shall be as follows:

 

1.                     Public Works - five (5) members.

Functional Responsibilities.  Sanitary sewers, storm sewers, water, claims related to sewer or water rates, streets, sidewalks, alleys, street lighting, bridges, underpasses, grades, public utilities, public works, purchases, cemeteries, railroads, garbage, rubbish, weed control, public buildings, parking utility, forestry, public grounds and parks.  The Public Works Committee shall exercise the duties and powers of the Board of Public Works under sec. 62.14 of the Wisconsin Statutes.

4.                     Administration and Finance Committee - five (5) members.

Functional Responsibilities.  Municipal budget, capital improvement financing, all claims other than sewer or water rates, collections, deposits, investments, financial accounting, auditing, insurance, land account, ad valorem assessments, negotiations, legal matters, human resources, purchasing, information technology, library service, confirmation of department head appointments.

Liaison Responsibilities.

PART II.                     All ordinances or parts of ordinances contravening the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

 

PART III.                     This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.
