REGULAR MEETING
2.25 Board Of Health Composition. [Ord. O-2005-0036, 7/5/2005] Membership/Appointment. The Board of Health shall consist of nine (9) voting members to be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by a majority vote of the members of the Common Council. Two (2) members of the Board shall be Alderpersons; two (2) members shall be representatives of the medical community; two (2) members shall be other representatives of the general community; one (1) member shall be a representative of the general community of the Village of West Milwaukee; one (1) member shall be the Chief Executive Officer of West Allis Memorial Hospital, or his/her designee; and one (1) member shall be the Health Department Medical Advisor. All members shall be residents of the City except for the West Allis Memorial Hospital, Village of West Milwaukee and Medical Advisor members and serve without compensation. The Mayor shall designate one member as Chair. Terms. The initial appointment to the Board shall be four (4) members for one (1) year and five (5) members for two (2) years. Thereafter, appointments shall be for terms of two (2) years. Organization and Procedure. The Board of Health shall adopt regulations for its own governance. Reporting. The Board shall prepare and file a quarterly and an annual report with the Common Council on its objectives, activities, and accomplishments. Staffing. The Health Commissioner shall provide staff support to the Board. Functions and Duties. The Board of Health shall have the powers and duties set forth in sec. 251.04 of the Wisconsin Statutes. Editor’s Note: Former Subsection (3), which immediately followed this subsection and set forth the Board of Health’s powers and duties relative to the operation of the Farmers Market, as amended, was repealed 2-18-2019 by Ord. No. O-2019-0004. The same subsection was subsequently repealed again 4-1-2019 by Ord. No. O-2019-0015.
