Resolution approving a sixty-day extension (until February 3, 2021) of a temporary moratorium on on industrial uses at the properties located at 6500 W. Washington St., 1323 S. 65 St., and 1339-1347 S. 65 St. (Tax Key Nos. 439-0001-037, 439-0139-002, 439-0140-001)

Body
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis zoning ordinance currently allows industrial uses as permitted by right or as a special use within section 12.45 of the Revised Municipal Code; and,

WHEREAS, the City is in the process of a zoning ordinance update and zoning map amendments; and,

WHEREAS, on October 6, 2020 the City adopted R-2020-0548 and has no intention of permanently withholding the grant of such uses to any qualified person, but seeks only a brief and temporary interval to consider the existing zoning and future land use vision for property located at 6500 W. Washington St., 1323 S. 65 St., and 1339-1347 S. 65 St. (Tax Key Nos. 439-0001-037, 439-0139-002, 439-0140-001); and,

WHEREAS, it is in the City's interest to put all future permit applications for industrial uses at the properties located at 6500 W. Washington St., 1323 S. 65 St., and 1339-1347 S. 65 St. (Tax Key Nos. 439-0001-037, 439-0139-002, 439-0140-001) on hold until the further consideration by the Common Council of potential amendments to the zoning ordinance, future zoning and land use map are introduced and acted upon.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that a moratorium be imposed on the granting and issuing of all aforementioned permits for industrial uses at the properties located at 6500 W. Washington St., 1323 S. 65 St., and 1339-1347 S. 65 St. (Tax Key Nos. 439-0001-037, 439-0139-002, 439-0140-001) on hold for a period of sixty days (until February 3, 2021).

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the moratorium may be eliminated sooner if it is no longer needed.
